  • Overview

    The Senior Business Analyst, Collections Systems, analyzes business processes, integrates business requirements into application workflow and maintains all application components, data formats (input/output/reconciliation) for file processing, and other related systems processes as needed to support operational initiatives and requirements.




    Primary Job Functions


    • Serves in system administration for the collection systems and associated supporting systems.
    • Analyzes business problems and operations and develops software solutions, considering limitations imposed by current environment, time restraints, personnel and financial resources.
    • Analyzes business problems and operations in depth, considering limitations imposed by current environment, time restraints, and desired results.
    • Schedules necessary system upgrades to the collection systems and environment to ensure minimum risk to production operations and clients.
    • Develops the necessary business requirements for all application improvement projects.
    • Prepares and documents specifications for new implementations or changes to existing systems and applications.
    • Analyzes impact on other modules or applications before implementation of changes.
    • Works directly with system end users to gather requirements, test implementation and train new system components.
    • Coordinates the testing initiatives for all system components to limit and reduce the risks of implementation of new system components.
    • Develops financial requirements for a proposed system including resource estimates and availability for all phases.
    • Develops and maintains the necessary documentation (including data mapping); arranges for data transfer to other systems.

    Secondary Job Functions


    • Leads review and walkthrough sessions for feasibility reports, functional requirements, system design, program specifications, coding, test plans, and results, and documentation packages in order to minimize system problems and assure quality control.
    • Prepares technical documentation for and assists the user community in the development of procedures, documentation, and training.
    • Builds “As Is” diagrams to document existing processes and “Desired” models to capture all details of proposed workflow processes.
    • Prepares documents of understanding, automation system design plans, and detailed project specifications to identify system design requirements and resource estimates for all phases.
    • Cross training new and transferred employees.
    • Additional duties as assigned.





    • This position requires a 2-4 year degree in Business, Business Systems, Computer Science or related discipline, with over 10 years of applications development experience, in a collections applications software environment. An equivalent combination of education and work experience with demonstrated business analysis proficiency may be substituted.



    • All of above, plus FACS experience and collections experience.





    • Enterprise System Management
    • Structured application development and program documentation procedures
    • Problem solving; script debugging; flow-charting; dataflow diagramming
    • Project Management methodologies and the software development life cycle
    • System analysis and design techniques
    • MS Office suite, web browser, email, Visio, etc.
    • Communication (verbally and in writing) with all user ability levels
    • Ability to train end users on applications solutions
    • Team player as well as self-directed independent work efforts
    • Additional development experience in other software supportive of a business environment is a plus.

    • Work Schedule Availability - In addition to the “normal” Monday thru Friday work schedule availability this role will require some varied and, often unplanned, evening and weekend hours. Additionally, there is the requirement to be available for a rotating “on-call” schedule.
